Emily in the Spotlight!
Emily is a vibrant and much-loved member of the MC Equestrian team. She joined the team in December 2020.
What led you to start your job at MC Equestrian?
I am pursuing animal studies and vet nursing at TAFE and as I have always had a love of horses, it was a fantastic opportunity to join MC Equestrian for some practical experience.
What does a typical day involve for you?
My typical day at MC Equestrian would involve feeding the horses, cleaning out their stalls, looking after the health and wellbeing of all the horses, administering any medications or treatments when needed, turning out the horses to paddocks and assisting students tack up for their rides when necessary (pre-Covid!).
What do you like best about working at MC Equestrian?
All the families and communities involved. They are all like-minded and fantastic individuals. Everyone cares so much for the horses and their welfare and all the staff have a thorough understanding of their needs.
Tell us about a cheeky horse at work?
One of my favourites, Al, a gorgeous chestnut, takes every opportunity to sneak out to the hay shed and can even unlatch his own gate. He’s such a character.
Tell us about your favourite riding trail?
I love riding in the Megalong Valley in the Blue Mountains. I once did a sunset ride, and we were galloping through the valley, through a butterfly breeding ground with kangaroos alongside in a sun shower then a massive double rainbow appeared overhead it was spectacular.
What are you most looking forward to when the Covid-19 lockdown finishes?
I probably shouldn’t say this, but I can’t wait to go to the pub! Nothing elaborate, just a night at the pub!
